TCOLE #3737 SBLE New Supervisor’s Course

The TCOLE #3737 School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) New Supervisor’s Course is a FREE 40-hour in-person training provided by the Texas School Safety Center and is accredited by TCOLE. Upon completion of this course, school-based law enforcement officers assigned to their first supervisory role will have knowledge of the latest commissioner rules and legislative changes affecting supervisors, be able to identify key roles, values, ethics, and principles for leaders, be familiar with the process of counseling subordinates, know the difference between civil and criminal accountability issues, understand principles of planning and organizing and more. Additional training will include knowledge, skills, and strategies to assist the supervisor in a leadership role related to school-based law enforcement and forming positive relationships with all stakeholders within the educational setting. Participants will be required to complete a personal assessment tool prior to day one of the course that will be used during the training session.

This training will cover a multitude of topics related to the area of School-Based Law Enforcement delivered over 5 days, including:

  • Relevant Commission Rules
  • Role Identification
  • Values, Ethics, and Principles
  • Liability and Civil Rights Issues
  • Civil Rights, Racial Sensitivity, and Cultural Diversity
  • Communication/Social Skills
  • Counseling
  • Special Investigative Topics
  • Leadership Styles/DiSC
  • Extreme Ownership: Taking Care of Those You Lead
  • Texas Education Code Chapter 37 – SRO/SBLE
  • Planning and Organizing
  • The Transition
  • Critical Incident Management

Please Note: This training is open to Texas public ISDs, open-enrollment charter schools, junior colleges, school-based law enforcement, and state agencies that support schools. Due to limited space, vendors and contractors are not permitted to register for this training.

You must attend the entire training to be eligible to receive 40 hours TCOLE credit. If a portion of the class is missed, the entire training must be made up at a later date. Please email txssc_sbleinfo@txstate.edu if you would like to reschedule.
