As Texas students return to school this fall, the Texas School Safety Center has launched a public awareness
campaign to give districts proactive tools to educate students and parents about the serious consequences of
making or sharing threats. Intended for grades 4-12, the campaign includes a powerful PSA video and supporting resources, including teacher guides, a parent
guide, conversation starters, social media graphics, and posters, to share the message Threats Are No Joke! -

Sheriff School Safety Meeting Search

In accordance with Local Government Code, Chapter 85.024, as amended in the 89th Legislative Session, the Sheriff of all Texas counties is required to conduct a school safety meeting with local stakeholders at least once per year and report the meeting details to the Texas School Safety Center. The TxSSC provides a tool for searching the meetings by county and viewing details including the date, time, location, topics covered, and attendance records. Reunification for Schools Toolkit

The Reunification for Schools Toolkit provides resources to assist districts when creating a Reunification for Schools Annex to their multi-hazard emergency operations plan. The Reunification for Schools Annex supports districts in establishing a safe, secure, and coordinated process for reunification following an emergency incident or disaster. The toolkit includes evaluation criteria checklists, annex templates, examples, additional resources, and a Reunification for Schools Annex online course. School Safety and Security Committee Guidelines

Texas Education Code specifically describes who shall serve on a School Safety and Security Committee, how often they shall meet and what they are charged to implement. This committee must actively participate in developing and implementing emergency plans for campuses and other facilities.
