Staying Safe: School Safety Response Train-The-Trainer
The Texas School Safety Center is proud to offer a new curriculum developed in partnership with Safe and Sound Schools and Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) that teaches students and staff their very own age and ability options to school safety during an active event. Based upon Safe and Sound Schools' curriculum and ALERRT's Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE), this curriculum will be offered as a six-hour train-the-trainer session for all regional Education Service Centers (ESC). Due to the sensitive nature of the training, the district’s School Safety and Security Committee will need to approve district staff attending the training.
When possible, we encourage a multidisciplinary team from the school district to attend this training. This is not a requirement to attend, only encouraged when possible. All individuals must receive permission from their district’s School Safety and Security Committee to attend.
Dr. Celina Bley from the Texas School Safety Center held an information session on September 29, 2023, with Michele Gay and Jason Cornwell from Safe and Sound Schools to discuss the Staying Safe: School Safety Response Training. Training requirements, curriculum, and more were discussed during this information session. If you are interested in learning more about this training, we encourage you to watch the information session recording or exploring our FAQ below.
